Devin Booker’s ascension to become one of the league’s premier wings has been exceptional. Every season, since he got drafted in 2015, the Phoenix Suns star has improved and added new weaponry to his repertoire. Booker recorded 70 points against the Boston Celtics as a 20-year-old in 2017. Since then, the guard hasn’t ever looked back, simply striving to improve with each passing season.

Booker is arguably coming off the best season of his career. Though he did not put career highs all across the board, the progress he made this season cemented it as the finest of his young career. His performances enabled the Phoenix Suns to clinch the first seed in the Western Conference. Surprisingly, Booker and the Suns were unable to replicate those heroics in the postseason, falling to the Dallas Mavericks.

Regardless, Booker’s exploits did not get overlooked, as he averaged a career-high 26.8 points per game. The man hailing from Michigan was also named to his first All-NBA first team. Moreover, the 25-year-old finished 4th in the MVP voting.

Booker’s performances earned him the bag as he penned a four-year, $224 million supermax contract extension with the Phoenix Suns this week. The same week, he put pen to an extension with Nike, that will see him remain with the brand through 2029. Booker’s already dream week only went uphill as he landed on the cover of NBA 2K23.

With his inclusion on the NBA 2K cover, Devin Booker joins a long list of luminaries who have done so in the past. He will serve as the cover athlete for the standard edition. As for the special edition, Michael Jordan will be embracing the cover.

From playing 2K his entire life to actually featuring on the cover, it truly is a magical moment for Devin Booker.

Devin Booker spoke with Rookie Wire at the NBA 2K cover launch about the game and the cover. He expressed his joy of being on the NBA 2K cover, calling it a “bucket list” thing.

Booker was then asked whether he wore the suit with the balls to get scanned into the game. He said he hadn’t worn the suit until this cover and everything else. “Everything else” might refer to his every move on the basketball floor as captured by motion capture technology.

He then went on to say that he used to complaint to 2K about his character in the game.

“I made a complaint to 2K about my player before and his movements and how he moved,” Booker said. “But now I think in ’23 he’s gonna be a lot better.”

Every year, NBA 2K improves its graphics and gameplay. Though the opinions are mixed, it is undeniable that 2K is always attempting to improve the iconic game. With Booker claiming that this edition will be much better, it remains to be seen whether the Suns’ star will file another complaint.
