With the Los Angeles Lakers looking to start fresh, young talent Dennis Schroder was shown the exit doors. However, there were speculations that the guard refused a new deal with the Lakers. As per some trustworthy reports, the 28-year-old was offered over $80 million during last year’s regular season, but declined. There was no shortage of backlash for the same.
The free agent was then on a search for a new home in the off-season. This is when he caught the eyes of the Boston Celtics, who were in need of a guard to improve their squad depth. The deal has been signed for one year, and is valued at around $5.9 million. With Kemba Walker making an exit from the men in green, Schroder now has the perfect opportunity to showcase his skill set. After all, this was something he didn’t get at LA – extended game time.

Ellen, wife of Dennis Schroder, upset at hate comments
During his time with the Lakers last year, Schroder averaged 15.4 points in over 60 appearances. Yet, Schroder received a lot of slack for declining the Lakers’ monstrous offer last year. Instead, he opted out, and eventually had to settle for much lesser at Boston.

The past few weeks have caused a lot of turmoil for Dennis Schroder as well as his family. After multiple days of silence, Schroder’s wife Ellen finally hit back at all the trolls and hate. Taking to social media, she wrote, “The last few weeks have put me, my family and especially my husband through a lot… It was too much stress, too much going on… I was fighting for 7 weeks… Normally I wouldn’t say anything but maybe I’m too emotional right now… Asking myself why people are being so mean to each other or maybe I just still can’t believe that I lost my baby.”
It has undoubtedly been a tumultuous couple of weeks for Dennis Schroder. However, there is hopefully light at the end of the tunnel. After all, the German has an inherent passion to succeed. In all likelihood, Boston could well be his dream destination!
