Things aren’t going well for the WNBA. There was news recently that stunned everyone: the defending champ Las Vegas Aces is under investigation by the WNBA. As per reports, the Aces are allegedly paying its current players and free agents under-the-table money. The Aces were also accused of setting up phone calls with prospective signees. All players, whether they were in the league or free agents, were welcome. In the reports that are being released, it seems that the players be promised payment from pre-selected companies for negligible work. 

There has been no comment on this from the Aces so far. In response to the recent post from Dearica Hamby, an investigation is currently ongoing to get to the roots of the situation. Recently, Hamby was traded to the Los Angeles Sparks and was unhappy with the way she was treated. Thus, she shared her experience with the world.

The player shared her story online with the world. She described, in detail, how she was traumatized” because of the unprofessional behavior.

Is Dearica Hamby taking any legal action?

At Spark’s introductory press conference this month, she was asked whether she planned to file a lawsuit. Speaking about it, she replied, “It’s a process that has to happen. For now, I’m going to leave it at what I said in my statement, and the [Players Association] is doing their part right now, and then we’ll see.”

Further, a two-year contract extension with the Aces was signed in June, according to ESPN. She described how she was getting all the training so that she would be able to play in 2023, but the team personnel was not expecting that.
