With James Harden debuting for the Philadelphia 76ers, the Sixers-Minnesota Timberwolves encounter was highly anticipated. Already a playoff team, Harden and Joel Embiid are a duo everyone has focused on. Now, while the 76ers came out on top with a 133-102 win, it seems like Timberwolves veteran Patrick Beverley had the final say.
Well, at least where Embiid was concerned.
Pat Bev to the officials tonight:
“Call the foul on Joel Embiid, it's okay… He not a champion and he got no MVPs"

Patrick Beverley on Joel Embiid during the 76ers-Timberwolves encounter
In the end, the 76ers secured their win. However, Beverley had something interesting to say about Embiid. As per the 33-year-old, it was okay for the referee to call a foul on Embiid. After all, he has no title and also no NBA MVP awards.
Though Beverley might not be wrong, Embiid is yet again in line for the NBA MVP award. Not only that, the Sixers are in a position to win – especially with Harden on board.
Having said that, most users online remained unimpressed with Beverley’s comments. Even if no one directly wanted to insult Beverley’s game, people were vocal about supporting Embiid. Some even asked Beverley to stop behaving like a starter – even though he does start for the Timberwolves.

Embiid even finished with game-high 34 points, Harden – who had all eyes fixed on him – did not disappoint. He posted 27 points, 8 rebounds, and 12 assists, while Tyrese Maxey stepped up with 28 points of his own. If the level of performance from the 76ers continues, there’s no stopping a deep playoff run.
“We’re unselfish, we just want to win,” Harden said post-game. He added that his job is to ‘add’ to every individual on the team, making sure they play well.
On his end, Beverley will be back with the Timberwolves for another season. The team has signed him on a $13 million, one-year extension, hoping to grow the team. Beverley, currently scoring 9.3 points per game, remains crucial to the team. With Karl-Anthony Towns, Anthony Edwards, and D’Angelo Russell on the forefront, someone like Beverley brings around the much-needed experience.

That being said, only time and more games together can seal the fate of either team. Because eventually, the playoffs are a completely different scenario.
