The Lakers for the 2020-21 season had a unique approach to their season as they shipped away veterans for a young core. After it didn’t work, the Purple and Gold ahead of the 2021-22 season have resorted to signing familiar veterans.
Adding the likes of Dwight Howard, Wayne Ellington and Carmelo Anthony, the Lakers were already stacked to with veterans. The latest addition to this list is that of former All-Star point guard Rajon Rondo.

Rajon Rondo’s Instagram proves his love for Lakers
Rajon Rondo’s first stint with the Lakers was eventful to say the least. Joining a team with young stars like Lonzo Ball and Brandon Ingram, Rondo became the much-needed veteran for the Lakers. But things changed pretty quickly. With the arrival of LeBron James and eventually Anthony Davis, the Lakers immediately became a win-now contender.
The bubble was the perfect condition for the team to thrive. While LBJ and AD stepped up, the Lakers needed an emergence of a third star. Enter Rajon Rondo. Not only did he take the pressure off LeBron James, he also chipped in with points. Given how pivotal he was to their title run, a move away from the team seemed unfathomable. But the former Celtics’ guard moved away to the Hawks for the 2020-21 season.

After an underwhelming stint with the Hawks, he was then traded away to Lakers’ cross town rivals, the LA Clippers. But it simply didn’t pan out for Rondo as he was eventually frozen out in the playoffs. One could also concur that the 2-time NBA champion didn’t have a good year.

This can also be seen in his Instagram profile. With a post dated back to November 2020, Rondo posted a thank you post for the Lakers organisation and how much he loved to represent the Lake Show.

But since then, the 34-year-old has zero posts on be it Hawks or the Clippers certainly representing which team he really respects. The 4-time All-Star is finally back to where he belongs.
But this time he has a reduced role as he will be a backup to Russell Westbrook. But given how intelligent a player like Rajon Rondo is, he is a must addition to any locker room. Can Rondo win his third ring with the Lakers?
