The Houston Rockets have faced disappointing results in the past few seasons. However, they have one of the most exciting young cores in the league which can dominate in the years to come.
Their center Alperen Sengun has caught the attention of the basketball world over the past few months and for good reason. The 20-year-old is 6-foot-9 inches tall and is surprisingly good at playmaking.

For this reason, Paul George has noticed shades of Magic Johnson and reigning MVP Nikola Jokic in the youngster. During one of the episodes of Podcast P with Paul George, the Clippers star said, “He’s got shades of Marc Gasol, Pau Gasol, Jokic, he’s got shades of like the great bigs that can pass, that can shoot, that can playmake. Super high IQ player, I love his game.”
He further added, “The greatest part of his game? At that size, at that position, his playmaking. Flashiness, where he, huh, like on some Magic type sh*t. He can really hoop.”
Sengun averaged 14.8 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 3.9 assists in 75 games during the 2022-23 NBA season. Not bad for someone who is just in his second year in the league! The future is certainly bright for the Rockets and Sengun, in particular.

However, George might not be available for his team in a crucial tie. The Clippers take on the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the playoffs and the 8-time NBA All-Star is a doubt. He has been missing in action since the 21st of March owing to a sprained ankle.
He will be ruled out for at least the earlier games in the series if not the whole series.
