NBA stars often speak about money. This is not just because of their contracts but also because for a lot of players, the change in lifestyle can be very jarring. To go from struggling one year to having more money than you know what to do with. Shaquille O’Neal talked about his first purchase after signing an NBA contract, sharing just how unreal the moment felt to the big man. Dwyane Wade has also made millions as a basketball phenom and investor.
Recently, his wife opened up about the couple’s financial responsibilities in a candid interview.

Sharing expenses isn’t enough to get the gorilla off of Gabrielle’s back
Speaking to Bloomberg in a recent interview, Gabrielle Union, the wife of NBA legend Dwyane Wade, spoke on the couple’s finances. As an iconic actress herself, Union had made bank long before marrying Wade in 2014. So when the two joined forces, they wanted to make sure that money didn’t get in the way of their relationship.
Revealing that the two shared their expenses 50/50 at home Gabrielle said. “It’s weird to say I am the head of household because in this household we split everything 50-50.”
Although the celebrity couple’s combined worth is well over $200 million the actress spoke about having this “Gorilla on her back“. This statement was made in regard to the two stars having to support households other than their own. Providing a little more clarity, she revealed, “In the other households that each of us have to support. It puts this- there is always this Gorilla on your back that is like. You better work, you better work, you better work“. Since both Wade and Union were married before, this is probably what the former actress is referring to.

With various dependents, Union explained that she even has to think about sleeping in, as that might mean “somebody might not eat.” Gabrielle Union’s revelation about having to support other households is a reminder of celebrities’ unique families and responsibilities. But not all fans enjoyed the reminder.
Fans agree with Candace Owens on the rich couple’s woes
As seen in the video, Candace Owens finds the claims a bit hard to digest.
“So it’s bizarre to hear her say that she feels this gorilla on her back because she has to worry others she has to support when her husband is quite literally worth $175 million.”

Many fans were quick to chime in about the comments made by the former Friends actress. Sarcastic fans belittled the TV personality with one particular fan stating. “Oh, the poor woman. To only be worth 50 mil? I just don’t think I could bare that burden.”
The penny jokes didn’t end there as another comment read “Rough life. If we all chip in 2 dollars each maybe we could help them.”
Of course, as fans, working hard to earn a fraction of these stars’ earnings, it can be jarring to hear their complaints. But, was the ridicule of her concerns necessary?
