Shaquille O’Neal quite often provides his insights into the NBA. He is an NBA analyst and a pretty good one at that. Shaq was in the league for 20 years. Therefore, he understands the league properly. Moreover, he understands the players and their game.
On an episode of The Big Podcast with Shaq, the interviewer was talking about Joel Embiid. She called Embiid a really dominant player on the court. However, Shaq seemed to be offended by the interviewer’s remarks. Shaq believes that Joel Embiid is definitely a great player. But, he does not see him as a dominant player.

“There you go using those wrong words. The D word does not fit his game. Great Player, but no. Don’t ever throw out the D Word, Okay.” said Shaq with an annoyed voice. Shaq knows a thing or two about being a dominant big man. He was one himself for the most part of his career.
Shaquille O’Neal has much respect for Joel as a player. However, dominant is not a title he would attach to Joel Embiid.

Is Shaquille O’Neal correct about Joel Embiid?
Joel ‘The Process’ Embiid is one of the most lethal big men in the league right now. The five-time All-Star is a versatile player who likes to use his body to overpower opponents. He is currently averaging 29.3 points, 11.1 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game.
He has been one of the most excellent centers the league has seen in quite a while. ‘The Process’ is currently running in second place for the Most Valuable Player this season. Additionally, he is the runner-up for the scoring title this season.
He has been carrying the entire Philadelphia 76ers franchise on his shoulders. Earlier, he had Ben Simmons take some that pressure off of him. However, Ben Simmons refused to play this entire season which left Embiid alone. Despite that, JoJo channeled his inner killer to stay in the fight for the championship.

‘The Process’ is going to get even more deadly now that James Harden has joined the Sixers. His scoring ability combined with Harden’s IQ and passing skills will push Embiid to be an even better scorer.
Joel Embiid may not be the most dominating big man ever. However, it is a little wrong to call him not dominating at all. He is a two-way player who can handle scoring as well as all defensive areas.
