The Los Angeles Lakers have acquired one of the best defensive players in the league through a trade. And it’s none other than Patrick Beverley. And Pat Bev let the world know that he is to be taken seriously when he made comments about playing with LeBron James and Anthony Davis. He received a lot of flak for it. However, NBA Legend Shaquille O’Neal has come to his aid and given props to Beverley while taking scathing digs at the two Lakers superstars.

Beverley was introduced in a press conference last week. And he was asked about what he feels about playing with LeBron and AD. But Beverley fired back at the reporters and said, “They will be playing with me. I made the playoffs last year, they didn’t.”

Beverley was not wrong as he made the playoffs with the Minnesota Timberwolves last season, while the Lakers missed the cut after a disappointing season. However, his comments were not well received in the NBA community, as many fans ridiculed him for saying that this was his team.

But Shaq came to the 34-year-old guard’s aid.

Shaquille O’Neal was asked on his podcast what he thinks about Beverley’s comments. Shaq did not have a problem with that, and he gave his flowers to the defensive specialist. He said, ” Stay off my boy Pat. I got nothing bad to say about Pat, you know why? He plays the game like he?s supposed to be playing.”

“Not these dudes making 200-300 million and can?t play at all,” he added.

Shaq was referring to NBA superstars who receive high salaries but fail to deliver accordingly. In fact, Shaq was referring to former Utah Jazz star Rudy Gobert. The Big Diesel has called out the French sensation for his exorbitant contracts on multiple occasions in the past.

Pat Bev may be the exact thing the Lakers need. The Lakers lacked accountability last season and there was a lot of blame game going on. They lacked the competitive mindset and Beverley is going to bring that.
