Since the arrival of LeBron James in LA, Lakers fans have once again had the belief that their team can win it all. Their prayers were answered when LeBron led the Lakers to championship number 17 in 2020. But since then, all has not been well in LA despite LeBron playing at a supreme level.
After last season’s first-round exit to the Suns, fans believed that their team would get redemption, especially since Westbrook became a Laker. But the storyline has not changed. The team has struggled this season despite having their big three.
In the latest episode of the ‘ALL THE SMOKE’ podcast, NBA legend Charles Oakley discussed the current NBA situation to explain why LeBron and the Lakers have had a poor run this season.

Charles Oakley speaks on LeBron and the Lakers
While discussing his latest book, ‘The Last Enforcer,’ Charles Oakley shed light on the current NBA situation and explained why the LeBron-led Lakers haven’t enjoyed much success.
“In the game today, you watch basketball, it’s just, everybody like ‘I, I, I,’ and that’s why you see so much bad talent on the floor. And you know, this may be a reason why the Lakers are struggling,” said Oakley.
“It seems like to me, nobody knows anything but LeBron. And that’s the head coach you know, that’s what you’re supposed to tell a guy first thing in training camp. ‘You do this, you do this,’ everybody has a role, time, and position. Guys play certain minutes together. Efficiency. But, it’s a lot of sloppy basketball now,” he explained.

Following their latest loss to the Clippers, the Lakers now sit in 9th place in the West. In addition to this, the Lakers have also had plenty of injury woes this season, with the latest victim being Carmelo Anthony. Furthermore, the recent absence of LeBron James has only increased the load on AD and Westbrook.
With several trade rumors surrounding Westbrook, the future of the Lakers’ guard seems gloomy in LA. Added to this, even at 37 years of age, the load on LeBron has not seemed to decline.
