Seven defeats later, there it was – a much-needed victory for the Charlotte Hornets. The team owned by Michael Jordan beat the Atlanta Hawks 144-138 on Monday Night. The Hornets saw an overall team with six players bagging points in the double digits. Out of the six, four bagged 20+ points. This dominating gameplay was led by LaMelo Ball (30 points and 15 assists). As the game concluded, the Hornet fans had much more than a victory to celebrate.

According to ESPN, the 144 points made “was the second-highest point total in Hornets franchise history.” The Hornets also made 20 three-points, tying the season-high number. Additionally, LaMelo Ball’s 30-point and 15-assist performance was a historic one for the franchise. As per reports, Ball was the “first player in Hornets history” to bag a stat line of this sort. While many celebrated this list of triumphs, fans were not impressed with LaMelo’s performance.

Many were in disbelief that Ball was the first player to reach such a milestone for the Hornets. They expressed this disbelief online while stating that they were not taking anything away from Ball. Some wrote that the Hornets were “an extremely sad franchise” and that such an accomplishment shouldn’t be a matter to boast about. The comments under the tweet were focused only on how “poor” or “sad” the franchise was. While fans focused their energy on the negative, the franchise ace’s teammates applauded him during the post-game conference. Terry Rozier, who bagged 29 points, stated that Ball was a “true gamer”. He claimed that for Ball, the day or place doesn’t matter because he is always locked in.

Following this, Atlanta Hawks coach Nate McMillan harped upon the dominating performance of the Hornets. He claimed that the Hornets were extra aggressive with their approach to the game which stopped his team, the Hawks, from locking in on the defensive end specifically. He said, “I thought they were the more aggressive team from start to finish.”
