For a long period of time, Dennis Rodman was one of the most recognizable faces in the world. The basketball superstar was always in the news due to his off-court activities. The five-time NBA champion has always been a polarizing figure but that never stopped him from speaking his mind.

He changed the way people looked at basketball players and brought in a style that arguably hasn’t been surpassed since. From dating Madonna to wearing a wedding dress, Rodman always did what he wanted. His eccentric lifestyle helped him become one of the biggest athletes in the world.

During an interview a few years ago, Rodman spoke about how fashion had changed since his playing days. “I think everyone’s that’s in the fashion sense, athletes, entertainers, they all trying to be fashion coordinators and stuff“, Rodman said. He regularly wore outlandish outfits, had nail paint on, and had various piercings as well.

He continued, “I was just doing this because it was fun. If you look back at the 60s and 70s, even the 80s, that fashion was really cool“. Rodman revealed that he wasn’t a fan of the fashion sense of today’s generation.

Speaking about them, he said, “I will wear yellow with blue or blue with pink or something like that and think s**t looks good but it don’t really look good. It’s more like what your eyes see these days so, everyone wants to be different.” He felt people aren’t authentic anymore. Rodman added, “I think that people don’t realize that no one is really authentic anymore.

While his actions drew criticism numerous times, there was no debating that he was a trendsetter in terms of fashion. Rodman’s fashion sense was called unconventional at the time. However, that kind of fashion can possibly be seen everywhere in today’s world.

Not only did he capture the imagination of people with his clothing, but he also dated arguably some of the most sought-after women of the 90s. Madonna, widely regarded as the ‘Queen of Pop’, dated the former Chicago Bulls and Detroit Pistons legend. Rodman has previously stated that she wanted him to impregnate her.
