The Los Angeles Lakers icon LeBron James is just inches away from surpassing the Lakers trailblazer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s all-time scoring record. In addition, recently, the four-time champion surpassed NBA legends Steve Nash and Mark Jackson in the all-time assists list. King James moved to fourth on the all-time assists list, but it is very unlikely that he would be able to surpass John Stockton in the all-time assist record. In light of this, the four-time champion gave his take, which elicited the fans’ attention.
Currently, Stockton leads the all-time assists list with 15,806 assists. On the other hand, the 19x All-Star is sitting in the fourth position with 10,338 assists. Therefore, considering James’ age, it doesn’t seem like he would surpass the Jazz legend in the all-time assist record. However, amid all the speculations, King James himself has something to say about the record.

Recently, James gave his view on breaking the former Jazz player’s legendary record. He said, “I ain’t thinking about that at all. That man played what, 19 seasons and in like 17 of them he played 82 games or some crazy stat like that? No. I’m good on that.”
The Lakers guard is currently 5,469 assists away from surpassing Stockton’s record. By far, the 38-year-old has played 1407 games and averaged 7.3 assists per game. Therefore, even if the 19x All-Star continues assisting like this, he would need to play at least 750 more games to surpass the former Jazz player’s legendary record.
NBA fans reflected on King James’ take
Meanwhile, as soon as the four-time champion spoke about the assist record, it garnered a lot of attention from the fans. They quickly reacted to his statements on Twitter. Most of the fans commented that the Lakers star wouldn’t ever be able to surpass Stockton’s all-time assist record. While a few users expressed that King James could certainly break the record if he tries.
