Miami Heat young gun Tyler Herro has been in a rich vein of form. The 21-year-old has anchored his side to a brilliant start, and they sit on top of the Eastern Conference. However, Herro has recently raised a lot of eyebrows with a statement.
In an interview, the youngster claimed that he sees himself to be on the same level as the likes of Luka Doncic and Trae Young. While it was a brave statement indeed, he has drawn a lot of flak for the same.

Although Luka Doncic is still young, he is well established in the league. On Tuesday, his franchise faced off against the Heat, but fell agonizingly short. Meanwhile, Trae Young has been performing pretty well in an otherwise average season for the Atlanta Hawks thus far.

While he averages over 24 points in his career, Luka Doncic has been a star attraction for franchise and country. Thus, Herro’s comments came as a shock to many. The latest person not amused by his statement is top analyst Charles Barkley.

Charles Barkley destroys Tyler Herro following Luka Doncic self-comparison
Former player Charles Barkley is now a leading analyst and insider of the league. Few days ago, rookie Tyler Herro claimed that he sees himself on a level playing field with Doncic and Young. Though his numbers have spoken for themselves thus far, the Heat guard was widely criticized for this belief. And now Barkley becomes the latest addition to the list. In a recent interview, the former 76ers marquee made his opinion felt.

“I’m a big Tyler Herro fan, but just because they got the same numbers, those guys have to carry a team every night. And first of all, second issue is he’s playing against backups,” laid out Barkley. “When you’re coming off the bench, you’re playing against backups.”
“So no disrespect, Herro’s a nice little player, but when you are the man, first and foremost, the pressure with being the man is not telling anybody Hey Tyler, come off the bench, shoot it anytime you want to. You’re playing against scrubs on the second unit.”

Former player Charles Barkley has clearly dismissed Herro’s belief. Yet, it is good to see that the rising star has such confidence. After all, he has begun the season brilliantly. Let’s hope he can keep it up and prove his worth.
