His ‘dad joke’ failed to land with NBA and pop-culture fans, and they showed no restraint in trolling him ruthlessly.

Before the Milwaukee Bucks won the NBA championship last year, life was very different for the Greek Freak. The media was constantly downplaying his achievements for not winning a championship. NBA fans had a similar disposition as well.

However, that didn’t limit his joyful spirit and happy demeanor. The 2-time MVP would regularly display his sense of humor on social media with jokes and memes.

This one joke made by Giannis about Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, and the Weeknd rubbed some fans the wrong way. And they didn’t hesitate to let him know that.

Super Bowl LV took place in February of last year at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida between the NFC champions Tampa Bay Buccaneers and AFC champions Kansas City Chiefs. The blockbuster event was broadcasted nationally by CBS to about 91.63 million people.

Giannis made a hilarious ‘dad joke’ conflating both years’ performers and playing a pun on the Weeknd’s name. However, fans were not as impressed as Giannis would’ve liked.

Some fans brought up his shooting deficiencies, while some pointed out that he should be more concerned about winning a championship. Because he has won none so far.

Super Bowl LIV was played at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami in February 2020 between Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers. The half-time show featured a song and dance performance by Jennifer Lopez and Shakira.

The performance was deemed inappropriate by many viewers and the FCC(Federal Communications Commission) received over 1300 complaints regarding the matter.

Giannis couldn’t resist but joke about the matter on Twitter, which first incurred the wrath of NBA and pop fans.

However, jokes aside, Giannis is an ardent NFL fan. Specifically, that of Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers.
