Apart from dominating the NFL, Patrick Mahomes has also experienced stardom in other sports. In fact, in the amateurs, Mahomes excelled at basketball and baseball as well. However, although he has shifted his time and energy to his budding NFL career over the years, Mahomes enjoys his occasional pick-up game. Consequently, many of his games and other highlights from the basketball gym have taken the Internet by storm in the past.
Interestingly, a similar clip has become viral in the sports world ahead of the upcoming Super Bowl. So much so that, it has intruded the feed of Shaquille O’Neal, who is no stranger to social media. Subsequently, the 4x NBA champion shared the viral clip with his 28.7 million followers on Instagram. The clip had a hilarious suggestion for the NBA world to give Mahomes a 10-day contract.

However, the Big Diesel’s corroboration of the humorous suggestion for an alternate career path comes at the worst possible time. The 27-year-old quarterback will be gunning for his second SB this Sunday. But nonetheless, Mahomes’ association with basketball has strong precedence.
Patrick Mahomes’ budding basketball career
Coming into the 2016 NFL draft, Patrick Mahomes was an athletic phenom. The 2018 NFL MVP had dominated the amateurs in both football and baseball at Texas Tech. Though his focus primarily shifted to football and baseball in college, the 27-year-old always maintained his touch in basketball from high school. In high school, the former SB Finals MVP was also a basketball star alongside football. At Whitehouse, Texas, Mahomes, in his brief stint at the varsity team for the 2012-13 season, averaged an impressive 19.9 points.
