Shaquille O’Neal has always been that person who is incredibly blunt on-camera and never shies away from speaking his heart out. The Big Aristotle has had the craziest moments on camera and somehow, perhaps after three decades of Shaq, no one is really surprised. However, there are always exceptions to this case. Recently a former NFL star was genuinely surprised by the Los Angeles Lakers legend?s bold decision of keeping his son away from his insane wealth.

Shaq has always been a loving father, but his love more on the ‘tough’ side than just catering to his grown-up children. The Big Man is known to have some extreme ways of leading his life, and that includes how he raises his children. However, this time, the concerned ex-NFL star candidly explained why he wasn’t a fan of the Big Aristotle’s words.

Shaq has reiterated his way of raising children multiple times over the years. The Lakers legend was raised by a sergeant himself in the form of his father Sergeant Phillip Harrison. Understandably, Shaq’s perspective on life is different from that of an average basketballer.

Shaquille O’Neal has six kids, most of whom are adults and are looking forward to the new phase of their lives. In an episode of the Impaulsive podcast a few months ago, the Lakers legend mentioned how he’s not interested in giving any handouts to his children.

They kinda got mad at this but I say, ‘In order to touch daddy’s cheese you gotta have three degrees’, said Shaq. He added, “‘cause I believe in respectable nepotism?and I also have to teach them we’re not rich, I’m rich.”?

This famous Shaq quote has garnered a lot of attention since he’s mentioned it numerous times. However, not everyone is a fan of his statement, as ex-NFL star Marcellus Wiley had strong opinions against this idea.?In a recent video on his Youtube channel, the former Buffalo Bills star spoke candidly on the matter.

Takes me back man, because obviously, my daughter’s in grad school, she’s 24 but I still support her, said Wiley.

He added, Damn right. I don’t believe in that cutting-off stuff. I don’t let the government at 18, and society at large at 21. That’s my daughter man, as long as daddy’s alive – and especially when I’m gone, she gonna have full reign – but as long as I’m here I’m looking out.

The former Bills star was crystal clear in how he wanted to act as a father. Additionally, he mentioned that he wants her to earn as a responsible adult, but would want to be somewhere in the middle.

Though Wiley’s words probably won’t have much of an impact on the Lakers legend, it is some food for thought.
