In the last few minutes of the latest Shaquille O’Neal podcast, things took an intense turn when Deion Sanders’ controversial comment was thrown into the pot of discussion. The Colorado Buffalos head coach’s take on the selection criteria of Quarterbacks and Defensive Ends sparked a debate among co-hosts Shaq, Nischelle Turner, and Anthony ‘Spice’ Adams. Fans also witnessed a clash of opinions between the three, prompting the NFL veteran to stand up to the Big Aristotle.

It has been about three months since Sanders was recruited as the head coach of the Colorado Buffalos. The men’s football team competes in the NCAA Division I and has won one championship title so far. Before the Buffalos, the 2x Super Bowl champion previously coached the Jackson State Tigers for two years.

In the newest episode of The Big Podcast with Shaq, Shaquille O’Neal got into a debate with his co-hosts Nischelle Turner and Spice Adams after he sided with Deion Sanders. The 4x NBA champion believed that Sanders was strictly speaking facts when he was listing the criterion for recruiting football players for different positions.

However, Spice and Turner had contrasting opinions on the matter. Turner argued that Sanders should not have said ‘stuff in mixed company’. Furthermore, she added that Sanders’ perspective indicated that she and Spice, who came from single-mom households, would never have a chance of playing as QBs. While they felt that the comment itself was wrong, Turner and Spice pressed on the fact that the Buffalos’ head coach should not have talked about it on a platform that has thousands of viewers.

Adams sided with Turner on her comment and said, “He’s talking about guys that are hungry, come from the hood. You know…like me. My dad was in jail when I was four and all that. But that’s not nobody’s business. That’s nothing that should be discussed, that’s all I’m saying.”

In early February, Coach Deion Sanders made an appearance at The Rich Eisen Show where he sparked controversy with his answer to the host’s question. Eisen asked him about the attributes he looks for in his players. In response, the former NFL star replied, “Well, we have different attributes. Smart, tough, fast, disciplined with character. Now, quarterbacks are different. We want mother, father. Dual parent. We want that kid to be 3.5 (GPA) and up. Because he has to be smart. Not bad decisions off the field, at all. Because he has to be a leader of men.”

Furthermore, he added, “Defense line is totally opposite. Single mama, trying to get it. He’s on free lunch. I mean, I’m talking about just trying to make it. He’s trying to rescue mama. Like, mama barely made the flight trying to get out the money and I want him to just go and get it.”
