Stephen Curry is one of the very few players who revolutionized the game of basketball. He has influenced young talent around the world not only with his game but also with his off-court personality. Not many players can be compared to Curry in terms of his game.

Being a 3-time champ and a 2-time MVP, Steph has already had a solid career. While any big man in the league is not compared to guards unless they can shoot from outside, Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr compared Curry to the ‘Big Fundamental’ himself, Tim Duncan.

Stephen Curry has a unique celebration

The ‘Shimmy’ after draining a three was a celebration coined by Steph. It was to a point that it went viral in 2016, as Steph was having a season of his career, sinking 402 threes that season. It’s been quite a while but it looks good as new whenever Steph does it.

Ahead of Game 3 of the NBA Finals, Steve Kerr pointed out a few similarities between Stephen Curry and his old teammate, Tim Duncan.

Shannon Sharpe had to respond not only to the games’ perspectives but also to their off-court similarity. Steph and Duncan are both skilled at an elite level. Both players were humble on the court. Sharpe compared their celebrations to tell how humble the two guys were.

“We’ve never seen a superstar celebrate like Steph Curry. We’ve never seen it. The turning, the shooting the shot, and turning around the shimmy and carrying on what he does. Tim Duncan was fundamentally sound. Tim Duncan would hit a shot, run back down the court and that was it. That’s all you got from him Skip…”, said Shannon.

Tim and Curry had mastered their individual skill

It is true how they both were cool off the court, but when it came to business they worked in silence to show who the best player on the court was. Tim Duncan was definitely one of the very few players who had his game pivoted on the fundamentals.

NBA vets do point out the difference in today’s game by noticing one’s fundamentals. We may not see a simple and sound game like Duncan in today’s game.

Whereas Steph’s game is not exactly fundamental but more skilled in other attributes. Both their games will be respected in the following generations. But to compare the skill level of Tim and Steph, both have worked exceptionally on their own major attribute.
