NFL Legend Rips Apart Russell Westbrook After Harsh Comments Blaming Everyone at Lakers but Himself

Russell Westbrook and his season with the Los Angeles Lakers is officially over. After missing the playoffs, Westbrook gave his exit interview and his comments were surprising, to say the least. Many were infuriated with his comments after he did not take accountability for his poor play this season. One of them is a former NFL legend, Shannon Sharpe.

Sharpe was visibly frustrated with Westbrook’s comments, and he called out the former MVP. He called him delusional for blaming everyone other than himself. Russ had one of his worst years as a player and the Lakers did not make the play-in tournament. Many had called Westbrook to be traded during the season, but the Lakers decided to give him a run till the end of the season. After Westbrook’s interview, Sharpe seemed to be done with the player and called him out.

After hearing Westbrook’s comments, Sharpe was asked about his thoughts. A visibly frustrated Shannon said, ” Skip, this is what the man said think it’s unfortunate, to be honest because I’ve never had an issue with any of my coaches before, Westbrook said on Monday at his exit interview.’ I’m not sure what his issue was with me or I’m not sure why, but I can’t really give you an answer to why we really never connected.’

How about this, Russ never had an issue with any of his other coaches, because they never held you accountable for your terrible play. When you turn the ball over, they just stand on the sideline and clap, When you air ball balls, they just stand on the sideline and clap.

Shannon said Westbrook had an issue with Vogel because he held him accountable for his actions. Vogel called out Russ for his poor play, and this did not sit well with the future Hall of Famer. Shannon says according to Westbrook, it was always somebody else’s fault and never his. He also said that Westbrook had no personal accountability.

The Lakers will have decisions to make in the offseason. They can either stick with Westbrook for one more season or try to trade him if he exercises his player option. But according to all the reports, it seems like Westbrook’s time with the Lakers is over and he will be on a new team next season. His exit interview also indicated that he may return to the Lakers next season. But his comments irked many people, including Shannon Sharpe.
