While Michael Jordan has often been pitted against LeBron James during numerous discussions, the NFL world has been occupied in its own version of the GOAT debate that has been going on for quite some time now. After an incredible end to the Super Bowl LVII, most fans have declared Kansas City Chiefs player Patrick Mahomes as the current best player in the league. However, a few remain adamant about giving the title to Cincinnati Bengals star Joe Burrow, a claim that was recently refuted by two popular NFL talk show hosts.
Patrick Mahomes shut down a significant number of critics when Kansas defeated the Bengals in the Conference Championships and progressed to the Finals. The 27-year-old quarterback gloriously led his team to their second championship title in a span of five years and was named the Super Bowl MVP for the second time in his NFL career.

There is no doubt that NBA legend Michael Jordan has contributed a lot to the sports world and the game of basketball. Fans all around the world continue to look up to Jordan and his incredible run with the Chicago Bulls in the 90s as the pinnacle of sporting greatness. To this date, fans measure young athletes against His Airness when it comes to certain skillset.
PFT Live co-hosts Mike Florio and Chris Simms recently drew a similar comparison after former Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer declared that Joe Burrow is the best quarterback in the league.
Both Florio and Simms agreed that the Bengals player possessed outstanding skills as a quarterback. However, Burrow falls short of Mahomes when it comes to thinking outside the box. They believed that Burrow performs exceptionally well on the field but tends to stay within the boundaries. Whereas, Mahomes did not refrain from improvising on the field, which alone made him an outstanding player according to Florio. Simms backed him up by stating that just because Mahomes doesn’t play by the book, it does not make Burrow a better player.

Florio continued, “I think Patrick Mahomes is the closest thing the NFL has seen to Michael Jordan. A guy who comes in and changes the way we think about the position. Changes the way that kids play the position.”

Furthermore, he added, “Mahomes has defied the things that we expect quarterbacks to do. He moves in a way they don’t, he throws the ball in a way they don’t. He has revolutionized the quarterback position the way Michael Jordan revolutionized basketball, unlocking a new universe of things you can do with your body.”
On the other hand, according to Florio, “Joe Burrow isn’t changing the way anyone’s playing about it.”
