Given their superstar status, millions of fans had been looking forward to Game 1 of the LeBron James-Stephen Curry matchup. The Warriors are notoriously known for failing to step up during their road games, therefore, securing a win in every home game was what they needed to boost their chances. While Steph and Co. still have six more games to turn the series around, the Game 1 loss is nonetheless disheartening.
Anthony Davis led the Lakers to victory by scoring a game-high 30 points, 23 rebounds, and 5 assists. Whereas, LeBron James added 22 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists. LA star guard Austin Reaves dropped 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists.
On the other hand, Steph scored 27 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. Curry’s “Splash Brother” Klay Thompson added 25 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 assists. When asked about the loss, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said, “You saw the run we made… We gave it a great fight and just couldn?t get over the hump. But we’ll be ready for Game 2.”
The sports world reacts to the Warriors-Lakers game
Among the first ones to share their opinion on the intense game was NFL legend Shannon Sharpe. The former Denver Broncos tight end wrote, “Lakers tighter than guitar strings. . FCCCKKKKK”. Whereas, NBA veteran Kendrick Perkins applauded AD in his tweet and wrote that while Chef Curry and King James were excellent, so was Davis. Perkins also added, “The Warriors better realize that this ain?t Sabonis they?re playing against. Carry the hell on?”?Take a look at a few more of the tweets.
All the conversation was around Steph and Bron and rightfully so… but failed to mentioned a generational talent in Anthony Davis!!! The Warriors better realize that this ain’t Sabonis they’re playing against. Carry the hell on…
