Shortly after news of Washington Commanders‘ sale was made public last year, names of several interested buyers began surfacing gradually. Among them were Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. While the NFL team owner Dan Snyder is yet to make a decision, recent reports revealed that Bezos has opted out of the bid. This came five months after the business mogul reportedly had a secret meeting with Jay-Z to discuss the possibilities of co-ownership.
Magic and Bezos have been tough contenders in the bidding war despite Snyder’s animosity toward the billionaire businessman. However, with Bezos out of the bid, things might just work in the NBA legend’s favor.

As per reports by Theodore Schleifer of Puck News, Jeff Bezos is currently not interested in bidding for the football team. This leaves two groups, led by Philadelphia 76ers owner Josh Harris and Canadian Entrepreneur Steve Apostolopoulos respectively, as the frontrunners in the bidding war.
Hall of Famer Magic Johnson joined hands with Harris and several others for the business venture and the group has submitted a $6 billion bid. The competition remains fierce as Apostolopoulos has reportedly submitted a similar amount in the bid. However, there is a possibility that Bezos might change his mind and jump back on to fight for ownership.
