The bidding war for the ownership of the Washington Commanders is still on, but it seems like Jeff Bezos is no longer a part of it. Reports of the Amazon founder’s involvement in the bidding war emerged back in November 2022 and many considered him to be a front-runner in the race. However, new reports suggested that Bezos might just have lost the chance to own the NFL team due to reasons that both parties are yet to confirm. Amidst all that, the Commanders franchise has reportedly caught the attention of a new interested buyer who happens to be Los Angeles Lakers legend, Magic Johnson.
Washington Commanders owner, Dan Snyder, has been in the hot waters for about two years now. After reports of s*xual misconduct emerged in 2020, Snyder has remained under constant scrutiny that eventually ‘forced’ him to make the sale decision.

According to reports by Sportico, Magic Johnson is now a confirmed bidder for the ownership of the Washington Commanders. Dan Snyder is reportedly looking to acquire $6 billion from the interested list of buyers that includes Houston Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta, Philadelphia 76ers and New Devils owner Josh Harris, and up until recently, Jeff Bezos. However, in contrast to Snyder’s asking price, the franchise has been valued at $5.6 billion.

Snyder is currently taking his time exploring all possible aspects of the sale. Therefore, it is quite possible that the deal may be announced before the NFL owners’ meeting that is scheduled to be held at the end of March.
Jeff Bezos knocked out of the bidding war?
Based on the asking price revealed by Dan Snyder, billionaire entrepreneur Jeff Bezos was among the likeliest bidders to claim ownership of the NFL franchise. However, it seems like Snyder has no interest in any kind of business deal with Bezos. This is because Bezos’ Washington Post had published a series of articles against Snyder in the past few months.
