While the NBA All-Star weekend is generally a fun affair, this year the story was different. Especially with the dunk contest, which left fans disappointed. The contest lacked any flair and many NBA analysts and players called it the worst dunk contest. However, Zach Lavine took it on himself to make the weekend worth it and pulled off the best dunk of the weekend while fighting for the NBA All-Star MVP. This left some New York Knicks fans angry as he overshadowed Obi Toppin.

The dunk contest is one of the biggest highlights of the All-Star weekend. And every year all the best dunkers gather in to give fans a spectacle. However, this year the competition did not live up to the expectations and fans were not pleased. So it came down to the final event, the All-Star game for the fans to see some excitement. And the two-time slam dunk contest champion did not disappoint. He took flight in the All-Star game and finished a fiery dunk.

Zach Lavine going for NBA All-Star MVP?

Lavine is one of the players who set the standard high for the dunk contest. His battle with Aaron Gordon remains to be one of the most exciting events of all time. He defended his crown for the dunk contest champion and is no new face when it comes to pulling off some exciting dunks. Hence, with his second All-Star game, he took it to the air and finished a 360 dunk.

After a rather unflattering dunk contest this year, the All-Star game has some serious athleticism on display. Players like Zach Lavine and Ja Morant and more than capable of putting on a show themselves as they take it to the game.

At one time, Zach Lavine was only popular for being a master at dunking. However, it didn’t take him long to evolve himself into a full-fledge scorer. Since his trade to the Chicago Bulls, the two-time dunk champion has gone on a scoring tear. And this season is no different with him and DeMar DeRozan leading the Bulls to the top seed in the East.

Currently, Lavine is one of the leading scorers in the league averaging over 24 points per game. The high flyer is also one of the best three-point shooters in the league and has brought that out well this season as well, shooting nearly 40%.
