The demands of Brooklyn Nets superstar Kyrie Irving just keep getting interesting. Last season, Irving played just 29 regular season games for the Nets. After he decided not to get vaccinated against COVID-19, he wasn’t allowed to play home games due to the rules in place at the time.
However, after the rules changed, he played in the home games during the tail end of the season. And the Nets made the playoffs. But they were comfortably swept by the Boston Celtics in the first round.

Throughout the series, Kyrie Irving struggled to make any substantial damage to the Celtics. The superstar averaged just 21.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game in the series. After the series was over, Irving said that he will help the front office to improve the roster.
Furthermore, he also promised that he will stay with the?Brooklyn Nets. However, things haven’t been smooth lately between the front office and Irving. And recent reports suggest that Irving made some extraordinary demands to be put into his contract.
The future of Kyrie Irving
As per reports from Ric Bucher, Irving doesn’t want to play more than 60 games in a season and also not play in back-to-back games. ?[Nets governor] Joe Tsai has already shown he?s willing to play hardball with Kyrie by taking a max extension off the table almost immediately,? Bucher said.
He added, ?Now, part of that may be Kyrie?s doing. I?m told he wanted his new contract to guarantee he wouldn?t have to play more than 60 games in a season and would not have to play any back-to-backs, which he apparently referred to as inhumane.??

The revelations about these contract demands from Kyrie Irving wouldn’t likely give confidence to other suitors as well. So even if the Nets wanted to trade away Irving, it might not be very easy.

However, there have been strong interests from multiple teams over the off-season. And most reports point to the direction of a possible reunion of LeBron James and Kyrie Irving at the?Los Angeles Lakers.
But the Nets are in a really tough position at the moment. Because the future of two of their superstars is still hanging in the balance. Recently, it was reported that Kevin Durant wants the management to fire head coach Steve Nash or wanted to be traded away.
Earlier it was thought that James Harden had some issues with KD and left Brooklyn to join the 76ers because of that. However, recently the former OKC teammates were seen spending some time together. So at the moment, it looks like Durant doesn’t want to play with Irving as well.
