The Brooklyn Nets have finally found the right combination they want for a Kyrie Irving-Russell Westbrook trade as the former’s reunion with LeBron James gets closer and closer. Irving and LeBron were among the best one-two punches in the NBA six years back. They led the Cleveland Cavaliers to their first-ever NBA title. It was a historic moment for the franchise and a monumental one for “King” James. Kyrie was the second in command in that team.

But in 2017, Irving decided he wanted to strike out on his own and left Cleveland for Boston.

Unsurprisingly, James wants a reunion with the Nets point guard. According to insider Brian Windhorst, the 37-year-old doesn’t care about draft picks. He wants to win now and a reunion with Kyrie would lead to that. The Nets had not yet revealed their demands for the maverick point guard as they were busy with the Kevin Durant situation.

But, some insiders have reported that the Nets want a first-round draft pick with a Russell Westbrook-Kyrie Irving trade. Marc Stein has said that the Nets and the Lakers haven’t met their terms on compensation just yet.

The last time LeBron and Kyrie played together was for the Cleveland Cavaliers. From 2014 to 2017, the Cavaliers were the best team in the Eastern Conference. It was a foregone conclusion that they would reach the NBA Finals. James was at the peak of his powers and was the best player in the NBA.

Kyrie Irving became one of the best point guards alongside him. Their offensive capabilities matched up pretty well and were responsible for one-third of the total points scored by Cleveland in 2015-16. Kyrie shot 44% from the field while James shot 52%. In 2017, they contributed about 2/5th of the points total. The duo was also responsible for the steal that was the NBA Finals in 2016. Cleveland was down 3-1 but LeBron and Kyrie rallied the troops to bring the chip home.
