Kyrie Irving and his rollercoaster season come to a disappointing end in the playoffs. His team, the Brooklyn Nets, got swept by the Boston Celtics, which sent shock around the basketball world. And the performances of Irving and Kevin Durant have come under heavy criticism from everyone. But this hasn’t stopped Irving from apologizing for his team’s exit and congratulating the Boston Celtics for going through the next round.

The games between the two teams were very close, and the combined margin of these four games was 18 points. But the Celtics deserved to win the series as they showed up on both sides of the floor. They shut down Kevin Durant and Irving and they limited their production. Irving was great in game 1 but they got to him in the last three games. Durant had arguably the worst series of his life as he shot less than 40% from the field and averaged over 5 turnovers per game. However, Irving and Durant gave Tatum and the Celtics their props after game 4.

Kyrie congratulated his former team. He tweeted, ” We didn?t get the result we wanted, but I wanted to congratulate my brothers in that Celtics locker room. They earned the series Win and I wish them well as they advance. Nothing but love competing against them.”

What comes to play is his availability and commitment. Kyrie has been injury prone, and he has missed a considerable time during his career. Many media personnel have questioned his lack of commitment to the game. But his teammates and Durant have stood by him at all times and they have had his back. It will be very interesting to see if the Nets offer Kyrie an extension and commit to these two stars or go differently in the offseason.
