The Lakers, on paper, are a better team in 2021-22 than they were in 2019-20 when they won a championship. But that betterment has come at a cost and that is the old age of their current roster. So NBA on TNT’s Charles Barkley decided to remind the Lakers fans about the same as they prepped up for the showdown against the Warriors.

The Lakers are coming off two preseason losses against the Dubs Nation. Yet, none of that would bother Frank Vogel because they were using a new offensive system and it naturally demanded some transition time. So is it that the Lakers will deliver or they really need Chuck’s advice?

Charles Barkley again forced the age slap on the Lakers

In a recent address to the fans, NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley decided to bring back the Lakers’ age conversation. He laughingly expressed, “They need a lot of Bengay and rubbing alcohol out here with these old geezers.” 

Now, Bengay is a heat rub for temporary relief from all sorts of muscular/joint pains. So Chuck, a 58-YO retired player himself, must know a thing or two about the remedy when he prescribed the same to the Lakers. Take a look – 

But he did not get away with those words without some harm. The legendary baller faced backlash from former Laker Shaquille O’Neal who then asked the fans to chant something rather funny. Here it is – 

So NBA on TNT hosts have taken their stance and the Lakers vs GSW result will determine who wins.

Should this narrative on age bother the Lake Show?

The 36-YO King James donned a stylish black suit as he walked into the Staples Center for the game against the Warriors. While the world can talk all they want about age, LeBron would be having that successful play-in night (and the clutch three-pointer) in his mind to fuel his body.

As for the Lakers, they have eleven players who are 30+ and that makes them the oldest team in the league currently. Plus, with the onset of several injuries, they’re not in an ideal shape even as the season just beginis.
