The LSU Tigers made history by winning their first-ever NCAA championship title on Sunday night. Under their head coach Kim Mulkey, the Tigers exceeded all expectations and defeated “National Player of the Year” Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Mulkey had previously won three NCAA trophies during her time as Baylor’s coach and became a four-time champion following the Tigers’ big win. Despite facing criticism recently, Mulkey gained fans’ favor when her impressive basketball career came to light.
Despite being the former coach of WNBA star Brittney Griner, she kept mum on the Phoenix Mercury star’s detainment. While several prominent figures from the sports world spoke out in support of Griner, Mulkey chose to avoid the situation altogether. When Mulkey was asked to comment on Griner, she simply replied, “And you won’t.”
