NBA analyst Kendrick Perkins has continued his streak of criticizing the Brooklyn Nets team. A few years ago, he called Kyrie Irving a “distraction”. The former Boston Celtics legend has not stopped taking shots at the team. His recent conclusions on the team have been brought to the limelight again.

During the post-game analysis on ESPN’s?‘First Take’, Perkins ripped apart the team and said the team should rename itself to Brooklyn Hostess Cupcakes. He adds the reason for doing so was because the team was “creamy and soft in the middle”.

This was following the Nets’ loss to the Dallas Mavericks.

NBA world unimpressed with Perkins’ take

Though his comments brought out a laugh from fellow analysts Stephen A. Smith, the NBA world felt that his comment was “absolutely unhinged”. They expressed that it was an unnecessary analogy and were seemingly unimpressed with his wording. Others were mocking Perkins about his constant need for air-time.

The NBA analyst also tweeted about the Nets’ poor defense. He said that the team can’t guard against senior citizens as well.

Perkins and the Nets go way back

Perkins and the Brooklyn Nets have clearly had a strained relationship. When head coach Steve Nash got ejected recently, Perkins was quick to state his opinion there as well. He claimed that Nash kicked himself out to avoid making any managerial decisions.

For the unversed, Kendrick Perkins and Kevin Durant were former teammates at the Oklahoma City Thunder. Two years ago, KD responded and called Perkins a “sellout” on Instagram. His response on ESPN saw Perkins get emotional and wipe away tears.

Both of them have publicly voiced their opinions on each other.

Another NBA analyst, Brian Windhorst also gave his take on the matter. He said that Simmons could be hesitant to shoot because he is scared. He claimed that the Australian star could be afraid of being fouled, hence the repeated passes.

Fans have had great hopes pinned for the Brooklyn Nets at the start of the season with the power trio of Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant, and Ben Simmons. But with the repeated poor performances by Ben Simmons, it has been difficult to establish themselves as a strong team.
