The Los Angeles Lakers had a tragic story this NBA season. With no things going their way, LeBron James and co. failed to make it to the postseason.  Moreover, their blockbuster trade for Russell Westbrook did not turn out well. The former MVP didn’t follow his dazzling display with the Wizards. Russ failed to make his mark in his home city. Recently, the purple and gold spoke about the trade and said James’ agent forced it upon them.

Right before the start of the season, the Lake show was on the top of the mountain. One of the favorites to win the NBA, James and Anthony Davis, were set to repeat their 2020 success. However, in a surprising turn of events, the Lakers made a shocking signing. Instead of playing to their problems, they added on after roping in Westbrook from the Washington Wizards. Likewise, the trade did not go well for them.

Lakers fell to the pressure?

With the Russ trade happening, nothing seemed to make sense among the fans. Looking at Brodie’s style of play, it was nowhere in line with the Lakers. However, despite the obvious difference, they made the trade for the former MVP. And that was the start of their tragic 2022 season. But it seems the drama isn’t going anywhere just yet.

According to Bleacher Report, the Lakers did not want to make this trade happen in the first place. The 17-time champions are internally blaming Klutch Sports, the organization that represents LeBron and Anthony Davis for their slip-up with the Westbrook trade.

Over time, it was clear that LeBron James had a huge impact over the Lakers’ final decisions. But for the blame to shift from the front office to Klutch doesn’t fall right. It is possible that the Lakers did face pressure, but the final decision is always with the organization. They signed off on the trade and ended with a season record of 33-49. As for Russ, he averaged 18.5 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 7.1 assists in the season. It seems the drama is still not over as Russ’ future with the organization is in question.
