The Los Angeles Lakers are in desperate need of a turnaround. With the second half of the season underway, they have started off with two losses on the trot. With the purple and gold only a few games in the play-in tournament, they need to rack up some wins to secure their place. However, it seems their team can never fall in the right place. Hence, they took to the market and signed a former Clippers man.
The Lakers season has been one to forget so far. Bad roster composition and injuries continue to haunt them this season. Coming off a 38 point loss to the New Orleans Pelicans, the Lake show are in deep trouble. With Anthony Davis still out, LeBron James is left alone to take the load of the team. However, after most part of the regular season, the purple and gold have finally brought in a new player.
Notably, the Lakers signed forward Wenyen Gabriel who has been bouncing from team to team this season. As for their fans, they were not happy with the new signing.

Lakers sign young blood
With the mid-season buy-out market in play, the purple and gold made their moves. Firstly, they cut veteran center DeAndre Jordan from the roster. In this process, they have successfully opened up a roster spot to sign a potential free agent. Moreover, they also added some young talent to the mic with 6 feet 9 inches Wenyen Gabriel to a two-way contract.
With this being only his third season in the NBA, Gabriel has already been around the league. He has played for five teams so far, including the Sacramento Kings, New Orleans Pelicans, Brooklyn Nets, Los Angeles Clippers, and Portland Trail Blazers. The forward has yet to play any significant minutes, but he has shown his potential in the NBA’s G League.

Gabriel played 3 seasons in the G League and showcased his shooting skill. He is a consistent three-point shooter and has transcended that part to the NBA converting 40% of his attempts this season. With his size and shooting skill, he could be a valuable addition to the Lakers roster who have struggled from downtown. Moreover, with young legs, he could also be valuable on the defensive end.

While Gabriel will add a different dynamic to the team, the Lakers’ main concern will come to the open roster spot. They have many players in their sight, but they need to find the right fit to save their season.
