Rallying with the home crowd, the Boston Celtics torched the Golden State Warriors in Game 3 of the NBA Finals. Despite the Warriors making a comeback late in the game, Boston wasn’t there to lose. They put on a masterclass performance once again in the fourth quarter to seal the deal.

Draymond Green had arguably one of the worst performances of his career before fouling out of the game. In addition, the Celtics crowd bombarded the three-time champion with chants. But there may be a reason for their anger towards him.

Green has made his life in the NBA as a stellar defender. However, after his remarks on referees treating him differently, the fans have been hostile. And even Green has taken advantage of the fact. But Game 3 wasn’t the same story.

Draymond Green going way too hard to secure a rebound for the Warriors

Having the most Finals experience on the floor, Green looked like he was new to the big stage in Game 3. He couldn’t figure out anything for himself and looked lost on the court. In addition, the crowd was in his ears every second.

Failing to make any kind of impact, Green turned to his physical play to make up for it. The former DPOY swatted Jayson Tatum while preparing to go for a rebound.

After the game, fans were quick to take notice of Green’s ruthless display. Likewise, they were disgusted with the way Green took that play. And Celtics fans made sure to send a message for his football-like play on Tatum.

The frustrations were running high for Green on a night he will want to forget. Draymond was almost absent for the Warriors who collapsed without his leadership on the floor. The three-time champ posted just 2 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists before fouling out of Game 3.

Green himself knew he wasn’t even close to his best for the Warriors. He called himself out for playing one of the worst games of his career. But none of these reasons is an excuse to pull off such a play.
