After a disappointing loss in the first game, the Boston Celtics did not repeat the same mistakes. They demolished the Miami Heat on the road to even the series. DPOY Marcus Smart’s return proved vital as the Boston forces could curb Miami’s offense and make it tough for them to score. Despite Jimmy Butler giving it his all to get back, the Miami Heat were out of juice tonight.

The Celtics were on top of the first half in the first game against Miami. However, they struggled in the second half. The Heat relentlessly put on points, and without the Celtics’ defensive anchor, Boston had no answer. But tonight, back in full force, the Celtics came in seeking vengeance. Not only did they blow out the home team, but they were able to control the flow through all quarters. Much thanks to Smarts’ return, the Celtics could get a huge win on the road.

Marcus Smart breaks ankles in Celtics return

The Boston Celtics came out swinging against the Miami Heat as they evened the series up one apiece. Coming off a tough loss, Boston went on to punish Miami in Game 2. Scoring 70 points in the first half, the duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown were on the loose. However, the second half belonged to a returning Marcus Smart who turned things up with his offensive game. And he capped off his stellar return with an epic ankle breaker on Max Strus.

He left the Heat guard on the floor with a flurry of moves before knocking down an easy jumper from the free-throw line. Likewise, fans went absolutely crazy looking at the Celtics guard’s insane handles.

Starting off hot once again, Jayson Tatum led the way for the Celtics with 27 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists. His scoring partner Jaylen Brown also had a great game finishing with 24 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists. However, it was their defensive guard, Marcus Smart, who was the main difference-maker. As the two Celtics scorers slowed down in the second half, Smart took care of the offense. He put up 24 points, 9 rebounds, 12 assists, 3 steals, and a block to mark his return.

For the Miami Heat, a fighting Jimmy Butler left his all on the floor. The All-Star went off for a game-high 29 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists in the losing effort. Gabe Vincent was the second-leading scorer with just 14 points behind Butler as the Heat fell apart at home. After an impressive win in the first game, this is a big step back as they now travel to Boston to face a tough road crowd.
