Amid the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, certain NBA teams are showing solidarity with Ukraine. During the recent matchup against the Sacramento Kings, the New Orleans Pelicans wore yellow socks during the match.

This gesture by the NBA team was taken well by the fans and the media as they received praises from all around the league and beyond.

The New Orleans Pelicans with a kind gesture

While the Pelicans took on the Sacramento Kings, the team had a very special gesture under its sleeve. Apart from their usual socks, the team flaunted yellow color socks. This came as a gesture of solidarity amidst the ongoing crisis between Russia and Ukraine.

Pelicans player Jonas Valanciunas gave his thoughts regarding the situation. He said, “As we talked last time, it’s a big mess. We’re just trying to bring more attention.”

The Pelicans coach Willie Green mentioned that the team came up with this idea during their recent trip to Los Angeles. 

Pelicans vs Sacramento Kings match review

The New Orleans Pelicans recorded their third straight victory against the Sacramento Kings earlier. Led By Brandon Ingram, the Pelicans breezed past the Kings with a 125-95 win.

Jonas Valanciunas scored 17 points and 14 rebounds while CJ McCollum added 17 points to his name too. With this win, they stay in the race for the playoff spot in the Western Conference. The Pelicans are currently placed 10th in their Conference.

On the other hand, De’Aaron Fox and Harrison Barnes scored 25 and 19 points respectively for the Kings. With this loss, the Kings take 13th place in the Western Conference. Although a playoff spot is looking tough for the Kings, it certainly isn’t impossible.

The Kings take on the San Antonio Spurs on the road. The New Orleans Pelicans on the other hand, face a tough test as they take on the Utah Jazz led by an in-form Donovan Mitchell.
