The Lakers suffered a monumental setback tonight as LeBron James suffered a painful ankle injury which forced him to leave the game halfway through. Initial reports are suggesting that James will be out indefinitely, but he hasn’t sustained any bone injuries or ruptures. Further details about James’ injury will be revealed after the results of his MRI.
Twitter goes berserk over LeBron’s injury
NBA Twitter took to the platform to react to James’ injury. Players like Ja Morant, Metta World Peace, and Jamal Crawford sent their wishes to LeBron James. Fans and analysts were upset by the injury. But given how bulletproof James has been throughout his career, there isn’t a concern about how fit he will be coming back after recovering from his injury.

Yep. LeBron shakes it right off, continues playing, immediately takes and makes a three. BUT … he soon decides he cannot play through this ankle injury, takes himself out and walks to the locker room. Again, his history tells you he'll be OK. We'll see.

Currently, there is no prognosis about how long LeBron James will be unavailable. Reports have suggested that he could be out for a few weeks. However, more information will only be available as it comes through. James has shown in the past that he doesn’t get hurt easily. This injury, at his age, will be a cause for concern for the Lakers and the NBA as a whole.

LeBron James – Crucial for the Lakers
James’ injury couldn’t come at a worse time for the Los Angeles Lakers. Anthony Davis is still going to be out for at least a few more weeks. In his absence, James has been carrying the Lakers by himself. James has been playing at a very level since Davis went down injured and has kept the Lakers afloat over the past few games to keep them second in the Western Conference.
This season, James has been putting up excellent numbers. He’s currently averaging 25 points, 8 rebounds, and 8 assists. James has turned up his scoring and assists in order to compensate for Anthony Davis’ attacking output being absent. James is currently the front-runner for the MVP, but that could change given his latest injury.

Can LeBron James return soon? If his injury prognosis shows there isn’t as much concern as first thought, James will be ready to come back as soon as possible. The Lakers have shown how reliant they are on James. And without Anthony Davis able to cover for him with his own injury concerns, the Lakers will want at least one of the two stars back as soon as possible.
