It has been a big week for the Martin twins. The former Hornets players have both grabbed huge contracts this off-season. Cody Martin has signed a four-year $32 million deal with Michael Jordan’s Charlotte Hornets side. Twin brother Caleb Martin has signed a massive deal with the Miami Heat.
The Miami Heat, led by Jimmy Butler, made the NBA Finals in 2020. Since then they have been a few pieces away from another Finals bound stint. According to The Athletic reporter Shams Charania, restricted free agent Caleb Martin has signed with Butler’s Heat for a $20 million deal spread over three seasons.
This is the second season that the Martin brothers are playing without having each other on the roster. Caleb was waived by the Michael Jordan-owned Hornets in 2021.

It was important for Michael Jordan and the executives at the Hornets front office to part ways with Caleb as the two brothers share a similar skill set.
Jimmy Butler adds Caleb Martin to the Heat roster in an effort to win a championship
Now Jimmy Butler has carried the Heat to a few successful playoff campaigns. They have reached the Finals once and the Eastern Conference Finals once in the last three years. It is important for the Miami Heat to add pieces to help Jimmy in reaching the top.

It would be interesting to watch Jimmy pass to Martin as he is one of the best passers in the league. Butler’s side has also lost out on veteran P.J. Tucker who is now playing with James Harden and Joel Embiid at the Philadelphia 76ers. Having the luxury of a high basketball I.Q player like Tucker on your roster is something the Heat would have wanted this off-season. Regardless, Martin would now likely get better minutes and a chance to prove himself to the Heat nation.
