NBA players are one of the highest-paid sports athletes, no matter where they stand in the league. Most of the time, contracts are the real deal when it comes to free agency. Some players earn double digits per minute played. Of course, these contracts are insane, though recently something even more interesting happened.
Shaquille O’Neal seemed quite uncomfortable with certain bonus deals. A roster bonus was given to a Bucks player, which made him 6 figures richer. Some fans might not accept such deals, while others know that it’s part of the business.

In the latest episode of The Big Podcast with Shaq, O’Neal gave his reaction to Jrue Holiday‘s roster bonus. The requirement for the bonus was to play 67 games in the regular season. On 11th April, the Bucks played the Cavs, and before the game started, Jrue had played 66 games. Right after the tipoff, Holiday fouled Garland and went straight to the bench. He never went back into the game and his playing time was recorded as 8 seconds.
Jrue Holiday started for the Bucks today so he could reach 67 games played and secure a $306,000 bonus 💰

“Got that bonus. That’s how you do it.”,?Shaq said on the bonus incentive. Holiday earned $300k in just 8 seconds. His current contract guarantees him $30.1 million for the 2021-22 season. While his bank account will still hit up numbers, Holiday wanted a few extra bucks to add to his account.
Though Shaq was amused by this move, he wouldn’t have done the same. “Nah, I wouldn’t do it, cause I don’t do little BS deals like that… You have to pay me all my money upfront.”, said Shaq.

In the first four seasons of his career, Shaq made a total of about $17.4 million, playing for the Magic. But this was nothing compared to his next contract with the Lakers. O’Neal went on to play 9 seasons for the Lakers, winning 3 championships and netting out $166.5 million.
Shaq made around $286 million through his NBA contracts. Around his time, this was a lot, as the salary caps have increased heavily in the last 5-6 years. But this bonus for Holiday was definitely one of the craziest entries ever.
