Dennis Schroder was part of the LA Lakers side in the 2020-21 season. He partnered the likes of LeBron James and Anthony Davis, but had an underwhelming outing. In his 61 games, Schroder managed around 15.4 points on an average. Over and above, he failed to make the crucial lobs and assist passes to his teammates. Yet, the Lakers reportedly offered the 27-year-old a new contract, before the deal fell through.

The guard is now searching for a fresh start at a new franchise. His release allowed the Lakers to go in for Westbrook freely, and the yellow army will probably look back and give themselves a pat on the back. As for Schroder, the Boston Celtics have shown interest in acquiring his services. They are close to signing the player on a one-year deal, so Schroder will don green next year.

Dennis Schroder is no more part of the Los Angeles Lakers setup, but not with no drama. Jeanie Buss’ side had apparently offered the youngster a mammoth $84 million offer, before Schroder opted out. The new contract would’ve seen him continuing at Los Angeles, thus making the inclusion of Russell Westbrook much more complicated. In the aftermath of his Lakers exit, however, Schroder is reportedly upset that he rejected the offer.

The source states, “He [Schroder] needs time. I think he’s in a state of shock because of what he’s done [turning down the Lakers’ $84m proposal].”?
