Fans are well aware that NBA legend Michael Jordan was on the skinny side during his time with time in college. The former Chicago Bulls superstar used to be mocked by future NBA legends for being skinny. In an episode of Club Shay Shay, the former Detroit Pistons superstar talked about one such incident. Jordan is considered an NBA legend. However, it took a lot of effort on his part to be known as one of the greatest players of all time.

Known as a highly competitive individual, the Chicago Bulls legend always aimed to become the best. While it remains unresolved if MJ is the GOAT but he sure is a significant figure in the sports industry.

However, even the best athletes had to go through their share of troubles. For the six-time NBA champion, it was his skinny appearance. Jordan would often get mocked by fellow college stars for his physique.

John Salley recalls how players used to make fun of Michael Jordan

In the latest episode of Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay, the host asked John Salley if the Detroit Pistons legend Isiah Thomas was the greatest player he played with. In response, Salley replied that Thomas was indeed the greatest teammate. Somewhat surprised, Sharpe asked him if he hadn’t considered Michael Jordan, Shaquille O’Neal, or Kobe Bryant, to which, Salley only stated, “Isiah was six feet tall.”

Salley then added that he thought MJ was the greatest, but he only said it to annoy Jordan. He then explained that he used to tell MJ that he was ‘Messiah’ and that people would worship him instead of Jesus in 2000 years.

“I would say to James Worthy, I said, ‘Can you believe the way they treat Michael? He goes, ‘Yeah, Skinny little Michael,'” said Salley.

He added, “Because when we went to college, he was just skinny, you know. We would laugh about it.”

Additionally, Salley said that when MJ would go for college tryouts, NBA legend Clyde Drexler would dominate him on the court. However, once Jordan was still developing and turned into a beast as he finished college. He then took the league by storm as he started dominating every opponent with ease. Interestingly, Jordan had the last laugh as he beat Drexler and the Portland Trail Blazers in the 1991-92 finals to win his second title.
