On the most recent episode of TNT?s Tip Off? Thomas was asked what stood out to him in the Western Conference standings. To that, the two-time NBA champion said, ?The Lakers at eight. I mean the Lakers at eight. A month ago, we had the Lakers dead. I mean just straight dead, everybody hated them, this is the worst season ever.”

“They?re never gonna make the playoffs. And now they?re eight. And not only are they eight but they?re playing well. I forget who said ?nobody fears LeBron? and that other stuff. Thomas continued to address the fear narrative around LBJ and the Lakers. He said, ?So, there is some fear there. I mean, you looking at the Lakers at eight. That?s the thing that surprises me the most. And that?s the team that nobody really wants to face.?

As much as one would want to discredit Thomas, his perspective does hold some value. A healthy Los Angeles Lakers do have the ability to run through their opponents. And a motivated and replenished LBJ on top of that is just the icing on the cake.
