The 2021-22 NBA season has been no stranger to fights and altercations. Naturally, as the teams battled for supremacy, tensions are bound to flare up. Meanwhile, Drummond has been the backup big man for Philadelphia. With Joel Embiid shouldering majority of the responsibility, his role has been fairly minimal. Miles Bridges on face-off with Andre Drummond: ‘Nobody is going to fight in the NBA’

However, an ugly incident erased the magnificence of an otherwise quality encounter. In the second quarter, Bridges perhaps angered his opponent by shoving him from behind. As Seth Curry knocked down a three, the young forward pushed Drummond from behind, anticipating a defensive rebound opportunity. However, the 28-year-old was having none of it.

Following the incident, the duo stood nose-to-nose at half-court. The officials stepped in to separate them, and then dished out a double technical foul. Characteristically though, Bridges undermined the extent of the fight, claiming in a post-match interview that things were never going to get violent. “Nobody is ever going to fight in the NBA,” he said after accusing Drummond of flopping. “The NBA is kind of like WWE.”
