The Los Angeles Lakers had one of the busiest off-seasons in the NBA. Trading away majority of their starters and young core, the Lakers brought in a superstar like Russell Westbrook adding to the star power of LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

Apart from that, the team has added multiple veterans to the team as well. Bringing in former players Dwight Howard, Wayne Ellington to name a few, the Lakers might have an aging squad, but they are also vastly experienced.

Lakers looking to sign Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk

The Lakers last season were one of the worst teams in terms of three point shooting. Struggling to connect shots from the perimeter, the Lakers knew that they had to make some changes to their roster and bring in efficient shooters.

Addressing their issues veteran shooters, the Lakers’ roster now are significantly better in shooting. But with three roster spots left, the 2020 NBA champions might add yet another shooter in their ranks.

According to the latest reports by Cleveland.com, the Lakers are interested in bringing in their 2018 draft pick and Thunder 3&D player Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk with one of their remaining roster spots.

After losing players like 3&D players like Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, LeBron James and Co. are in dire need of perimeter defense. Although Mykhailiuk is not an elite defender he still has a positive impact on the defensive end of the floor.

The Ukranian also is a decent three point shooter. While he was incredible in the 2019-20 season for the Pistons shooting over 40%, his numbers took a massive hit in the 2020-21 season.

Playing for the Thunder, the 24-year-old shot a league average 33% from the perimeter. But the Ukranian might be worth a roster spot for the Purple and Gold. A career 36% shooter, the 24-year-old might see a jump in his numbers with the Lakers.

With players like Anthony Davis, LeBron James and Russell Westbrook on the floor, Mykhailiuk will get a lot more open shots on the floor. He is also a much better defender than that of Wayne Ellington. Most probably available for a minimum, the Ukranian will be a low-risk signing. Do you think Lakers will opt for yet another reunion and sign the former Thunder guard?
