The Los Angeles Lakers can’t seem to make their mark as they lost a key fixture to the Dallas Mavericks. Luka Doncic went right after LeBron James and the Lakers as he took Dallas through. NBA fans were left in disbelief as Luka Doncic put up yet another masterclass in the clutch, this time against the King.

LeBron James has been left alone in the Lakers’ attempt to salvage this season. The purple and gold have struggled to make any significant impact in the second half of the season. With their play in position at risk, the Lakers need to really step up their game. However, it wasn’t meant to be against the Mavericks.

In the duel between Luka and LeBron, the young star came out on top.

LeBron James outdueled by Luka Doncic

The Dallas Mavericks notched up a 109-104 win over the lost Lakers. Both Luka and LeBron were on top of their games as their duel was the one to watch. However, at the end of the day, it was Luka who prevailed, taking the Mavericks to yet another win. NBA fans reacted to the duel and gave Doncic his props.

Missing out on some key players, the Lakers have struggled all season long. Injuries have not been kind to them. However, tonight there was no consistency for the purple and gold. Two of their key scorers couldn’t back up LeBron as they now fall to 27-34 for the season.

LeBron James tried his best with 26 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. The King was of the few players to shoot over 50% as the remaining Lakers couldn’t capitalize. Carmelo Anthony did what he does best and scored 20 points off the bench. However, the duo of Malik Monk and Russell Westbrook couldn’t deliver, combining for just 29 points in the crucial encounter.

As for Dallas, Luka Doncic continued his rise as one of the best players in the league. He put up 25 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists to topple the Lakers. The supporting cast was also at their best. Jalen Brunson scored 22 points to go with 4 assists and 4 steals. Finney-Smith accumulated 16 points and 9 rebounds while Dinwiddie gave them 14 crucial points off the bench.

Doncic has proved to be a valuable leader to the Dallas side who, despite not having the big names, have made their presence felt this season. With the young talent on their side, it is only a matter before they become the top dogs in the NBA.
