Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan and his insatiable hunger for winning is etched in sporting history. Be it basketball, baseball, golf, or racing, the six-time champion looks at the bottom line of sport, winning. The NBA icon’s basketball prowess, over years, left little space for banter. However, MJ, who co-owns the NASCAR team 23XI Racing, was recently at the receiving end of some ridicule at the hands of co-owner, Denny Hamlin. The 42-year-old shared a hilarious story of the six-time champion trying his hand at a racing simulator.
Seemingly, the 14x All-Star wanted to experience what drivers felt inside the car while they drove around multiple difficult tracks at a speed of 200 mph. Hamlin came to the aid of the former Bulls player with an authentic experience by setting him up in a NASCAR simulator.

In one of the recent episodes of his podcast, ‘Actions Detrimental with Denny Hamlin’, a fan asked Hamlin, if His Airness would ever get in a stock car to take a few laps. He replied, “Never again. He did it once, but it was the simulator at TRD. That content has not been released, nor will it probably ever be released…” Subsequently, he added that Toyota and 23XI Racing’s team set up the simulator as Jordan was keen to feel what drivers felt on the tracks.
The 42-year-old added, “This was a couple years ago…So I’m thinking, I said, ‘What kind of track do you want to be on?’ He’s like, ‘I don’t want Daytona…that’s too easy…’ I’m like,’Alright, let’s go to Charlotte.’”
However, things didn’t go well for the former Bulls player. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver stated that MJ was initially doing okay but after 15 minutes of driving, he quit and said that he was done.

Hamlin finished by saying, “He was sweating profusely. It was very hot…He put the helmet on and he’s just like, ‘Man, I just my eyes, I got so dizzy. Like I just started feeling queasy.’ So he had to quit.”

In the same podcast, the co-host, Jared Allen asked Hamin whether MJ would ride along with him in the future. The 2020 Daytona 500 Winner felt sure that MJ would refrain from doing so anytime soon. Moreover, he added, “He wouldn’t trust me. He wouldn’t trust me to do it. He knows I’d tried to scare him.”
