In an interview after the release of ‘The Last Dance’ documentary, Jordan’s 3 kids talked about what it was like growing up with MJ. Interestingly, it seems Jordan is not a fan of any other sneaker brand apart from his own.

The host asked an interesting question regarding sneakers during the interview. He asked whether they were allowed to wear any other brands while growing up. All 3 of his children collectively said no, and Jasmine, Jordan’s daughter, revealed an interesting story.

She talked about how she wore the flashy ‘light up’ sketchers while she was a child and MJ threw them away! Jasmine said, “My father threw them sh*t out. I was hurt, I was like 6 or 7.” Safe to say, Jordan’s competitive nature applies to his business as well.

Ever since Nike signed a young Jordan in 1984, MJ has earned a whopping $1.3 Billion from the brand according to Forbes. Surprisingly, Nike was never Jordan’s first choice.

He rocked Converse shoes while playing for the University of North Carolina and he wished to be endorsed by Adidas, Nike’s rival. However, his agent’s relationship with the brand gave Jordan a huge deal.

Nike signed Michael Jordan in a 5-year deal and offered him $500,000 yearly, which was almost triple of any other sneaker deal in the NBA during that time.
