The recent death of Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputy Darnell Calhoun shocked the country. As per reports, when Calhoun was responding to a domestic disturbance call, he was gunned down last week. He was 30 years old. A public memorial service was held Saturday morning in Rancho Cucamonga for his death. The public showed their support and paid their respects to Calhoun. Shaquille O’Neal also paid his respects and mourned the officer’s death. A video clip of the NBA legend paying his respect was shared during a montage.
Around 150 people gathered for the viewing of the officer’s casket held on Friday night and for the candlelight vigil held Tuesday night.

Shaquille O’Neal paid his respect
Deputy Darnell Calhoun was married and had two children. Shaquille O’Neal shared his condolences for the pregnant widow and her two children. According to reports from ABC7, “You know, I did not know your husband, Deputy Calhoun, but any man that works as law enforcement, you could tell they love the community,” O’Neal said. “I know he loves you and I know he loves both of those beautiful babies. And, again, my heart is so heavy.”
The Los Angeles Lakers legend is a reserve law enforcement officer. He was sworn in as a Clayton County sheriff’s deputy in 2016. He has also been designated as an honorary U.S. Deputy Marshal and a reserve officer with agencies in California, Arizona, and Florida.

The deputy was allegedly shot by 42-year-old Jesse Navarro who was shot by another deputy backing up Calhoun on Friday. The suspect and Calhoun were then rushed to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar where the officer lost his life. People from all over the country have mourned the death of Calhoun and paid their respects to the fallen officer.
O’Neal mourned the death of Ernie Johnson’s mother
Shaquille O’Neal recently mourned the death of Lois Johnson, the mother of close friend and co-host Ernie Johnson. O’Neal broke down on TV while paying his respect to Lois Johnson. The four-time champion noted she lived a great life and raised a fine gentleman in Ernie.
