Now that the halfway mark of the season is closing in, fans across the world are gearing up with excitement for what might be the most entertaining weekend in the NBA schedule. This is especially true if you are a resident in the city of Cleveland. Arriving on the 18th of February 2022 is the All-Star Weekend of the 2021-22 season. And on the 20th of February is the most coveted event of that weekend – The All-Star Game.

With the announcement of the starters for the Eastern and Western Conference, Brooklyn Nets’ star and MVP candidate this season – Kevin Durant finished with the highest fan votes among the players of the Eastern Conference. Likewise, Lakers’ star and also an MVP candidate this season – LeBron James had the highest fan votes among players of the West. This, of course, means that the two of them are going to be the captains of the East and West starters.

While the ‘Kid from Akron’ is returning home and will hope to put on a show, KD will hope to redeem himself after last year’s loss to LeBron himself. It will be redemption time for KD, not just in winning the game itself, but also in drafting the team.

Kevin Durant’s Time for Redemption

In the latest episode of The ETCs, KD spoke about how people didn’t want to be part of the previous year’s All-Star Game since it was during the pandemic, and also how KD along with others on his team had to deal with injuries.

“Last year I thought I picked the best team in All-Star Game history. But we laid an egg when the game started,” said KD.

“Yeah injuries kind of blew us and then the fact that nobody really even wanted to be there because we’re still in a pandemic,” he explained.

“So my circumstances, I had to pick that team, we had to perform under some bad circumstances. This year, if I’m the captain, it’s going to be a lot better. I need to redeem myself. My GM skills are being questioned,” added Durant.

Now that he is a starter and the captain, it’s the perfect opportunity for him to exhibit his GM skills and pick the right squad to avenge last year’s loss. This is especially true as he is currently out with injury with a slim chance to make it back in time for the All-Star Game.

After the announcement of the All-Star Reserves on February 3rd, 2022, LeBron and KD will go head to head and pick the rest of their squads on February 10th, 2022. This will be a fun battle as opposed to their regular season and previous finals matchups.
