NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal was given the ‘Superman’ nickname for his dominance on the hardwood, which became a part of the Diesel’s identity. That’s when Dwight Howard entered the league and instantly became a fan favorite with a game similar to that of Shaq. However, the beef started between the two big men when Howard showed up to the iconic 2008 Dunk contest with a Superman costume. The embers of the feud are still pretty much burning it seems, as Shaq recently took a shot at Howard once again.

After his stint in the NBA, Howard is currently playing basketball in Taiwan. The Big Diesel has ridiculed the 2020 NBA champion’s overseas stint in the past and he did it once again, this time leaving the entire room dying of laughter.

Dwight Howard and Shaq’s career share an uncanny resemblance. They were both drafted as the #1 overall by the same team, (the Orlando Magic), won an NBA title with the Los Angeles Lakers, and also played in the same position. By the time Howard was establishing himself in the league, O’Neal was in the twilight of his career.

During a segment on the recent episode of The Big Podcast with Shaq, co-host, Nischelle Turner and the NBA legend indulged in a heated debate on whether maintaining a perfect record, especially in crunch time, is crucial to quantify greatness.

That’s when Shaq pulled out a sneaky little joke on Howard. The Lakers legend said, while explaining why his legacy is enduring in NBA history compared to other players, “I got four championships. If I didn’t have no championships or rode the coattail of a guy who won one championship and then moved to Taiwan, then no.”

The whole panel burst out in laughter, following Shaq’s snide remark. The crew then proceeded to joke around at the expense of Howard for a while before moving on to the next subject.

Notably, Howard left the NBA in 2022 after a successful career in the league, winning the 2020 NBA championship with LeBron James and the Lakers. He has 8 NBA All-Star appearances to his name along with three Defensive Player of the Year awards and many more accolades.

Howard once clapped back at Shaq for criticizing his game

It is not always Shaquille O’Neal, who has the last laugh in an argument. Following his criticism of Dwight Howard’s time in Taiwan, the 37-year-old hit back at O’Neal.

“This message is for Shaquille O’Neal. First thing I want to say is, you gotta stop hating brother. You gotta stop hating!” said Howard. Moreover, he also added how he has never taken shots at Shaq or his career. However, the same cannot be said about O’Neal, who has been quite critical of Howard both in the past and the present.
